Cindy Bauer of rural Clinton, author of Chasing Memories, will be available to sign copies of her book during several signing events in Clinton and surrounding areas in July and August.

Growing up in Davenport, IA, Ms. Bauer was an avid reader and dreamed of becoming a writer. In 1986, she and her husband Robert moved to Missouri to assist with the care of her terminally ill mother. When her mother passed away in early 1988, the couple decided to stay and make Missouri their home.
When Ms. Bauer gained employment with The Clinton Daily Democrat, her passion for writing was reignited. With encouragement from both her husband and her sister, Ms. Bauer began writing her first novel, Chasing Memories. Her sister, Debra LaVelle, Canton, GA, a former journalism teacher, volunteered to be her editor. Nine months later, Ms. Bauer submitted her completed manuscript to two publishers and within three days she was offered a contract.
Chasing Memories was published on January 23 by PUblishAmerica, Frederick, MD and is the first in a planned trilogy, with publication of the second book, Shades of Blue, expected later this year.
Chasing Memories is the story of Laura Thompson, a young widow and mother who is raising her seven-year-old daughter in the fictitious small town of Hampton, Missouri. While helping an elderly neighbor, Laura suffers a freak accident and loses her memory. Laura struggles to recover her past while living in the present with a daughter she no longer remembers and a future filled with uncertainties. Her story is one of tragedy, survival, courage and faith. And the ending will surprise you!
"This inspirational story of Laura's brave struggle to become her own person leans heavily upon her relationships with the people who love her and the supportive members of her community church"----Lighthouse Literary Reviews, January, 2006.
