"I had no idea what I was getting into when I climbed into that truck," Donna Carver said. "But it was the beginning of a great adventure for me."
In "Truckin' Up!" Carver writes about her experiences on the road with her trucker husband. In the book, she recalls one of her first learning experiences on the road-- it was a CB conversation about alligators and yardsticks along the highways. "Now, I was raised in Florida, and it wasn't too uncommon to hear about alligators roaming around in nieghborhoods or on highways," she recalled, "But, this was North Carolina in the middle of winter." Of course, another trucker kindly explained over the CB why the scrap rubber was called an alligator and how to read mile markers.
