Lives of local author's parents inspire two books
Elmwood Park Elm Leaves/River Grove Messenger, May 10, 2006 by Ken Manson

In a book that took 63 years to write, Elmwood Park resident Mercia Fiore is telling the story of her father's short baseball career in which he pitched to future Hall-of-Famers such as Babe Ruth and Rogers Hornsby.

Fiore read excerpts of her latest book, "Life Is a Baseball Game," during a talk May 4 at the Elmwood Park Public Library. Besides the book, she discussed her first book, "The Lady Behind the Light," from 1985, and "My Heroes/My Parents," from 2001.
