Getting
a first book published isn't easy.
For months, H.B. Marcus searched for a literary agent, sending out query letters and sample chapters from his novel Crispy, about an incompetent serial killer.
When an agency finally accepted him, it spent months seeking a publisher.
''It was work, but the book was a winner,'' Marcus said.
