Q: When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
A: It sounds awful, but a major attraction was the idea of being a "famous" reporter for the Olympus High School Thunderbolt. But then, I was only about 15 when that urge came over me. Now fame is not even part of my reason for writing. It is all about sharing and about having no other choice but to write.
Q: How and when did you make this dream a reality?
A: My goal changed. Luckily. It's pretty darn hard to get "famous" as a writer. The odds are truly against you. It isn't nearly as hard to develop a voice and to be heard. Much of that comes with learning your craft, maturing. Those are both natural processes. I think I became aware that I had made this dream a reality when I was sharing a podium in a program called "The Three Faces of Tolerance." I appeared with Nobel Prize Nominee, Poet Alicia Ghiragossian. It was that evening that I realized that I might never feel my love and message were being felt and heard if I didn't get grateful right then. I mean, when does "not enough" become "enough?"
