WALKERSVILLE — James Reid wanted to tell the story about his grandmother who taught school in a one-room schoolhouse.

He wanted to tell the story of his father growing up as one of 17 children, and of his mother who, on the other hand, was an only child.

He recently read through his maternal grandmother's letters. She was the one who taught in the one-room schoolhouse.
