Do Wines Confuse You? Author Chad Satcher Is There To Help
The Town-Crier, March 31, 2006 by Matthew Auerbach
Chad Satcher can thank his wife Sheree’ and mother-in-law Pam for his new career as a writer. If it weren’t for them, he might never have sat down and authored Freshman Year at Wine University, a self-described “wine book for novices, written by a novice.”
A native of Austin, Texas, Satcher and his wife now live in Royal Palm Beach. Sheree’ works at Coastal Wines & Spirits and is also general manager of Moe’s Southwest Grill in the Pointe at Wellington Green. In her work, she often holds wine tastings for buyers, restaurateurs and connoisseurs of the grape. On occasion, Satcher, who runs the delivery service Courier Center Inc. with his brother Chris, would help out his wife at tastings, acting as the de facto bartender.
It was at these tastings that Satcher began to get a real education in the wine world — not only about reds and whites, but also the kind of personalities who inhabit this world. Some were friendly and would impart knowledge in a laid-back manner when asked. Some, however, would be condescending and look down their noses at Satcher when he posed a question they felt was beneath them.
