When Cullaby Lake resident Debbie Sherman could not find any books from a mother’s perspective on Down syndrome, she set out to write “Jenessa’s Journey,” about her 3-year-old daughter with Down syndrome.
Three-year-old Jenessa bounces around the living room, pounces on her mother and mimics her hand gestures and voice inflections. When her 17-year-old brother, Justin, walks through the door, she leaps into his arms and gives him a kiss, to which both exclaim, “Ew!” and wipe their mouths.
