This Strange Land': A gripping, if cautionary tale

A group of missionaries headed by the Rev. Clifford Werner is on the scene, dispensing food and medical supplies. But the supply chain is weak, and food is dangerously low when a new recruit joins the missionary staff. The recruit, an ardent idealist, is nevertheless a teenager. . . named Doublas blennings. One of the major themes of the novel is whether Blennings can stand up to the culture shock of going from verdant Pennsylvania. . . to a corner of Africa that God as forgotten. . . .
