NOTHING prepared the young Terry Cope for the shock he got at the beginning of January 1955 - and it was not just starting a job he had no idea less than three weeks before that he was to have.
What happened on that day to the 15-year-old lad, fresh from school with no idea what he was going to do, is the opening story in The Intrepid Apprentice, Mr Cope's recollections as a first year mechanic.
