| The graphic and hard-hitting psychological thriller The Serpent: Chronicles of Deception, the first book in a three part installment of a post modern Adam and Eve living by their own rules and stepping on anyone who gets in their way is making suprisingly well sales for what the author perceived as a limited target audience. Writting the book, which is heavy in gay themese and religious symbolism hidden underneath the daring manuscript, it was thought that the target audience for the book would mainly be that of the gay community and very open minded individuals. However, The Serpent, is well on its way to breaking into the mainstream literature market, with sales and rave reviews from all who have read it. The only question left on the lips of those avid readers is: When is the next book coming out? Well, hard at work on the next installment, it should be ready for publication by next spring. So, for those fans who loved the first book and are on the edge of their seats from the cliff hanger ending of the first book, take a breath and buckel your seatbelts. Because, the next chapter of the Chronicles of Deception will blow you away. All that can be said at this point to give a little tease is that, as in all my writing and in life itself, nothing is as it seems. Just when you began to understand and possibly like certain characters, just when you start to relax, the serpent attacks and with a vengence. Upon looking his short novel up on Amazon.com, the author was unpleasantly surprised to find his Circa-1912, short novel being presented, 'as a joke of sorts'! This is because a used copy was being sold for $5.25, and two new copies over-seas are being sold for over a $100.00!!!
So, in order for any P. A. author to receive their rightful recognitions, their fellow author recommends his "Brothers & Sisters of the Pen", refer all of their interested readers to the Publish America Book Store on-line in order to get their full residuals. (Not to mention, E-Bay is having a field day with almost all of P. A.'s used copies from pretend readers).

It is 1912, and after all these years guess who is still alive ...William H. Bonney's latter-day riding partner-Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh, Wyatt Earp's friend-Mysterious Dave Mathers, and of course Jesse and Frank James's cousin-Cole Younger, (and as for Cole, not by any means a surprise to any historian).
Yet, outside their boarding house that they all live in, (and causing havoc), is Ben the Tall Texan Kilpatrick and his latest partner-Frank Ole Beck Holbeck.
But all of this is only the sub-plot to a divorce and murder mystery that includes many other old west-famous characters ...and after all, it is 1912 Kansas City, Missouri.
So-far, the author has sold over 50-copies on his own, and not to mention how many P. A. has sold for him. And-no, we won't mention that. But it is doing good in the Red Apple Stores, Radisson Hotel, and at the Kelley Auctions. And, it's all in good fun.

This is the first book in the Angels of Darkness series. Predatory Angel is a fast-moving tale and provides action as the characters prepare for battle. There’s a bit of mystery throughout the pages where the heroine is concerned, drawing the suspense out to the closing chapter. The plot is intriguing, the romance between Catya and Christian is passionate, and the secondary characters add interest to the storyline. Predatory Angel is entertaining and will hopefully be the start of a fun new series. The dialog did alternate at times from an easy flow to formal speech, but I expect with each new release Ms. Black’s characters will transition into more comfortable conversation. I’ll be looking forward to seeing which character develops in book two.

B. J. Baker has been very busy in 2008 with book readings and signings, author appearances and book sales. She appeared in Casa Grande, AZ at the Fiesta Grande Vendor Days in January, February, and March.
B. J.gave a book reading in the Fiesta Grande Library in AZ March 12th, and also promoted her book during a luncheon meeting with registered nurses visiting the Creative Cafe in Casa Grande, AZ. August 6 and 7, she participated in the Indiana Author's Showcase at the Indiana State Fair, a wonderful venue for authors because of the high numbers (in the thousands) of visitors attending the Fair.
The Herald Republican Newspaper featured B.J. in an article published August 21 that chronicled the year that she has spent traveling throughout the Southwest United States promoting her book, "Pete On Ice." On August 22 and 23 she presented a book reading/signing program at the Hallmark Shop in Angola, IN. On September 9, B. J. participated in the annual Author's Talk program at the Indianapolis/Marion County Public Library in downtown Indianapolis.
Prior to this year, B.J. appeared for a book signing/reading in Fort Wayne, IN at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Jefferson Pointe, and the Carnegie Public Library of Steuben County.
She says that she has had a "roller coaster ride" of appearances and promotions of her first published novel, "Pete On Ice" since early 2007 when PublishAmerica published her book.
The sequel to her first novel is now in the last stages of editing, and she hopes to see it in print in early 2009. Many of her readers have contacted her to see when the sequel comes out, and she is delighted with the attention that "Pete On Ice" has gotten thus far. |
