This is the email I received from the television producer and staff who came to my home for the interview and filming on Nov. 17, 2006:

Gertie, Ok, I have you on the schedule. We will be showing a two part series "Girls Guide to Hunting" on December 21 and 22. There will still be a little time for archery deer season. On January 15 we will show the interview just about you and your book. Of course we will mention your website and the book after each story. It makes a great stocking stuffer.

Thanks so much for letting us come out to your house. I had been looking for someone to do this story for quite some time. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. You had good advice and great stories. You are one amazing lady, Merry Christmas.

Dear Gertie,
You are one famous lady in Oklahoma. I am so proud of you! Keep of the good work. Maybe one day you will be Up In Lights on the PA message board. You are fabulous!

Very Happy Smile Hi Betty, Been wondering about you and "Woofer" and glad to hear from you. Have you moved into your new home yet?

"Naw", not famous, but enjoying the opportunity to promote the book and meet new friends. I am so honored for the producer from KTUL Channel 8 out of Tulsa and her staff to drive 100 miles to meet me and do the interview and filming at my home. This hasn't changed me one bit and I just hope that the girls and women watching the show will learn a little bit about how to get into hunting.

I doubt that I will ever be "Up In Lights"! In order to receive this honor an author has to be viewed on a national network. KTUL Channel 8 is an Oklahoma station, but I think the coverage goes into some of the adjoining states.

Same "ole me",

Dear Gertie,
You might also want to get involved in "Becoming An Outdoor Woman." This program has expanded to many states, and is usually conducted and promoted by the state Game and Fish orginazation. OK probably has a version of this program. Most of the top female names in the outdoors are involved in it.

Dear Gertie,
By the way, besides being a good way to help other women get into the outdoors, participating in the Becoming An Outdoor Woman program is good PR. All of the Fish and Wildlife organizations have professional public relations people to get the word out about their programs, and I'm sure that they will use the fact you have an outdoor book as part of their promotional efforts to attract participants. It helps them attract people, it help you sell books and everyone helps other women get into and enjoy the outdoors.
During the past, I have done some columns and magazine articles about this program, and a couple of stories about Brenda Valentine, who was instramental in getting this program off the ground years ago.
All outdoors people are very eager to help newcomers, but women are especially benevolent.

Cool Good advice Ron! My daughter and I attended the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation) event that was held in Eufaula last March. Several different courses were offered to women who were interested in "Women In The Outdoors" events. I met some wonderful ladies of all ages and we had a wonderful time. This is where the lead came from to get my book reviewed by the editor of "Women In the Outdoors". The review is listed on page 25 of the fall edition of the magazine and is circulated nationally. Thanks for the advice given.

Hi Richard, The show had to be rescheduled for the 2nd time. Part 1 aired today the 3rd and Part 2 will be shown in the morning the 4th on Good Day Tulsa between the hour of 9 and 10 a.m.

It made me feel really lucky to be honored like this. Out of all the women in Oklahoma that hunts, I was the one they chose to give the short course on hunting.

Thanks!
