Maureen Aplin's first novels should be available in next two months

LAGUNA NIGUEL — In her books, author Maureen Aplin chooses to avoid the settings that many mystery writers use as backgrounds for their stories. There's no New York bustle, no Chicago elevated trains, no Hollywood glamour and no Miami sunshine.
The Laguna Niguel author chooses to return to her own roots and plant her characters in Wyoming, but that doesn't mean her plots are any less fast-paced. Her main character, Mary MacIntosh, is an attorney who investigates murders and businesses that risk poisoning the environment in order to make profits.
