Renaissance concert coming up at Trinity
Peoria Journal Star, February 18, 2007
KEWANEE - Kewanee native James W. Bryner, who also lived in Toulon for many years, has published his first book, a fast-paced military action-adventure story.
"Baja" ($24.95, PublishAmerica) tells the fictional story of two retired American field-grade officers and a retired general-grade officer who are duped into aiding in the overthrow of the Mexican federal government. As the story unfolds, there is an international consortium that is going to finance a group of mercenaries to seize the Mexican Baja peninsula for purely economic reasons. The real reason to seize the peninsula is to create a diversion to draw off the strength of the Mexican army in the south of the country.
When the American officers discover the truth of the situation, they develop and execute a plan to save themselves and the Mexican people.
Bryner lives with his wife, Berta, in Wheatland, Mo. He has traveled extensively in Mexico and is a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.
