Police Reform: An Appeal From Within
BlackNews.com, March 9, 2006
Joseph Buskey, a zealous ex-police officer thoroughly educated within the "code", has written a book chronicling inherent misconduct within the police profession. Historically viewed as an occupation whose members routinely function under clouds of great speculation, exploitation, and suspicion, the industry of law enforcement has evolved from one of implicit gallantry into a self-serving pride and money machine.
In his book, Tinged Valor: An Exposé Of The Real Police, the author highlights episodes of actual police misconduct which consistently breed contempt for the police in every corner of our society. This contempt resides primarily within the black communities, where mal treatment persists and state-of-the-art jails (equivalent to indigent-based country clubs) are being constructed to casually confine greater numbers of people for shorter lengths of time (promoting recidivism).
