Guess Who is Back in Town?
Ruston Daily Leader, December 18, 2005 by Mary Margaret van Diest
I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that people come back to Ruston every day-what's so unusual about that? Well, not all of them come back with a newly published book and award winning writing to blast off a new career for the lady of the house. PublishAMerica, based in Maryland, has announced that it has acquired the rights to publish Whatever It Cakes by this Ruston author, expressing confidence that the book will quickly resonate with an audience. Publishing executive director,"This is a well written and crafted work of contemporary fiction that fits our specialty like a glove. PublishAmerican primarily publishes works by, for or about people who face a challenge in life, and who overcomes them by turning stumbling blocks into stepping stones. This book shows a promising talent and we are looking forward to another book!" As if this were not enough to entice a good read, the book is based in Russville (Ruston in disguise) and is also based on years when the daughter of the family was a Tech student working at The House of FLowers as a cake decorator. She is now a cake disigner on her own. It is a full blown mystery sure to grip local residents with all of the local refercenes which jump from page to page. Well, I can hardly wait. Ruston is getting quite a literary colony along with its artist colonly. I am sure author Joyce Shields Colvin and her husband, James will find a warn welcome in their long chosen hometown.
