Local Author Signs Books
LPL Press Release, May 9, 2006 by Vivian McCain
Lincoln Parish Library will host a book signing on Tuesday, May 16, from 4 to 6 pm for Joyce Shields Colvin, author of Whatever It Cakes. Colvin has recently returned to the Ruston area after she and her husband, James, have retired. Whatever It Cakes is a delightful page-turner. PublishAMerica says that the book is a 'well written and crafted work of comtemporary fiction' and 'Ms. Colvin is a promising talent in this field.' The book is set in Russville, Louisiana (could that possibly have anything to do with Ruston?) and is based on Colvin's experience in the insurance field along with her daughter's designer cake business. The two main characters, Jodi and Leah, concoct wonderful peach related desserts in their Park Avenue business, while spending their spare time secretly investigating insurance scams and frauds. The latest investigation begins with murder and includes political intrigue, big money and kidnapping. It is a full blown mystery, sure to grab the reader, and full of local references. Come by the library and pick up a copy of Whatever It Cakes and meet the author. She will be happy to sign your copy. Books will be sold on site for $20.00. Don't miss the opportunity to meet Ms. COlvin and find out about her next book.
