Local Writer prepares for release of second book
Lake City Reporter, May 24, 2006 by Lindsey Downey

Jon Douglas' mind was filled with creative stories of dragons, swords and sorcery, but the Lake City writer didn't know how to formulate his ideas into a novel. "I didn't feel I was good enough to get them in print", he said. Douglas's mother knew he had a wild imagination and encouraged him to write when he was just a child. In the 1960's, while he was living in Greenland, Douglas came up with a concept that now has led to four books in his Dragonrun Series. "God Song" is the second Dragonrun book to be published, though it is volume three in the series. It should be released by Publish America in June. It wasn't until Douglas read an article in the Lake City Reporter about a writer who published a book with Publish America that he approached the company with the fantasy stories he had formulated in the 1960's. The New York native, who has an eighth grade education, said his Dragonrun stories are based on fantasy, but he doesn't overuse the magic in his plots. "To me, you use it very sparingly," he said. "Fantasy is easy because whatever you say is possible."
