Ask Jerrica Lewis about her writing and her eyes sparkle. Committing her feelings and ideas to the written word is one of her great passions.
"Besides my family, writing is the most important thing in my life," said Lewis, who under the pen name J.R. Lewis has authored her first book, "Bakerville Prodigy," a young-adult fiction novel. "When I'm writing, it takes me away from everything. I write characters that are somewhat a part of me. "
Lewis, a Phenix City native and 2005 graduate of Central High School, has a book signing at 3 p.m. today at Barnes & Noble in Columbus Park Crossing on Whittlesey Boulevard. She is the daughter of Lisa and Kelvin Thomas and James Owen of Phenix City. She has a twin sister, Jessica, who is also a freshman at University of North Alabama, and a younger sister, Jaquita.
