Past Present Positive: The Secret Lives Of Teenagers, Now Public
The Cranston Herald, May 4, 2006 by Meri R. Kennedy

I found your daughter on MySpace the other day.

She posted her name, but I won’t. I know what she looks like, though; she has many pictures posted on her site. On her site she says she is from Egypt, yet in her personal survey she states she goes to Park View and attended Waterman Elementary. The comments posted on her site and those she has posted on other sites clearly indicate she is from Cranston and in middle school. She plays softball. She has 293 friends linked to her MySpace page that is at least 293 people who have direct access to her page and can link off hers to other pages. Does she know all of them? Has she met them all? It took me less then 10 minutes to learn about her life and what her friends think of her. She may have taken some safety measures when she posted her online profile, yet her friends were quick to include more detailed information in their postings about her.
