Past Present Positive: A Victory For Victims

It was not that long ago when I, along with my 14-year-old daughter, took a trek to the State House to encourage the passage of Jessica’s Law, which requires mandatory sentencing and GPS tracking for all sexual offenders. The law is important to me, as a past victim of childhood sexual abuse and rape, and important to my daughter, who knows what I had endured as a child and wants to ensure her own safety as she grows up in this world.
I tell her often, “Honey, the world is a good place, you just need to be careful and think … be able to think things through, be able to think fast on your feet, and if it seems or feels like danger, it is danger.”
