New children’s book ‘The Banjo & the Telescope’

Estes Park Trail-Gazette, September 7, 2007 by Juley Harvey

Richard Payne and Dorothy Speiser, former educators, are hitting a new chord with their book, “The Banjo & the Telescope.”

The book, targeted for children in fifth through seventh grades, but also expected to be popular with adults, will be a “hot” item for Christmas after it debuts in about a month, according to the publisher, Payne said. It is a bilingual English-Russian book exploring the differences/similarities among diverse cultures and people. It is endorsed by television’s Art Linkletter and Sen. Bob Dole, among others.
