Near-death experience gives therapist new perspective

It was a life-altering event that changed the mind of Houston resident Mary Jo Rapini, who describes herself as stubborn. So when she went through a near-death experience after suffering a brain aneurysm in April 2003, the wife and mother of two suddenly realized all the stories she had heard from other people weren't necessarily caused by hallucinations. As a psychotherapist in private practice who specializes in intimacy and sex counseling, as well as a therapist at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, Rapini found it therapeutic to write it all down. The result is her recently released book, titled Is God Pink? Dying to Heal, which she recently discussed with writer Kim Hughes.
