Former resident publishes second poetry book
The Daily Independent, July 7, 2006 by Jessica Shillings
Former Ridgecrest resident Denise Elaine Shaw announced the recent publication of her second book of poetry, Life's Crossroads . Life's Crossroads is written in the same, sentimental spirit as her first publication, The Heart Within. “Each poem deals with the emotions of the human heart and how we face the challenges in our everyday lives,” states a press release to The Daily Independent.
Shaw began writing poetry in 1984 as a way to cope when her father was diagnosed with cancer. Her first poem, entitled “Reflections”, was written while her father was hospitalized for an extended period of time.
