AMA ex-insider dissects hardball medical politics

The Chicago-based American Medical Association is a major political player in Washington, D.C. on health issues, though somewhat eclipsed these days by "Big Pharma" and health insurance interests.
Its American Medical Political Action Committee is among the biggest contributors to congressional candidates, both Democrats and Republicans, though typically skewed to the GOP.
